Walla Walla University is committed to an environmentally sustainable campus and implementing and refining practices to that end. In this effort Facility Services maintains a strong recycling program, relying on campus support for successful implementation.

What can be recycled

Facility Services collects and recycles numerous materials, including:

  • Recyclable paper and cans collected year-round in blue bins on campus in public spaces as well as in office spaces and transported to our local recycler approximately twice per year.
  • 废金属, placed in a large transfer truck bin and picked up several times a year by a local vendor.
  • 纸板, picked up weekly from cardboard recycling bins around campus in a separate recycle compaction truck and taken to a local vendor.
  • 所有的电脑, 监控, and other electronics, collected and sent to a recycler (a service paid for by WWU).
  • 照明产品, sent to a recycler for separation of the recyclables and the hazardous materials (a service paid for by WWU).
  • Other recycled materials, including motor oils and chemicals, 轮胎, 和树叶, 草坪剪, 和刷.

What cannot be recycled

  • Materials that are spoiled are not recyclable and 必须 be placed in the trash or sent to hazardous material handlers (e.g. have traces of food products or hazardous chemicals - no takeout trays can go in the blue recycling bins), so it’s important that only recyclable material is placed in the blue recycle bins.
  • 玻璃
  • 塑料瓶
  • 粉碎后的纸

Please be sure to only include recyclable materials in the blue bins so as not to spoil other recyclable materials already in the bins. If you have questions about whether a material is recyclable contact Facility Services.

在哪里回收

Recyclable materials can be deposited in any blue recycling bins on campus to be collected and recycled.
